by Lalia Robinson Wilson, Professional Astrologer and Kofutu Formula Master The term Void-of-Course refers to the Moon's position in a horoscope when it does not apply to any major (Ptolemaic) aspects1 before changing sign. This is a term from Western Astrology with the Tropical Zodiac (that uses the equinox to determine zero degrees of Aries). This term originates from the branch of astrology called Horary Astrology, in which questions are asked and the answers derived from a chart cast for the time and place of the question. When a void-of-course Moon is found in a Horary chart, it is called a "stricture against judgment." This means the question cannot be answered, probably due to events outside the knowledge of the person asking the question. However, when applied to daily planning, a void-of-course Moon suggests that similarly to the Horary situation, something behind the scenes has already been determined and the outcome of actions taken under the void-of-course Moon will have no effect. Thus, signing a big contract will not end up as the person desires, major purchases will not be satisfactory and so forth. In short, during times with the Moon void-of-course, your time is better off not pressing for immediate results. You should be thinking with your right brain, not your left brain. This is complicated for the person who uses astrology and maintains a traditional working life. Many people have to be at work from 9-5, or whatever their schedule might be. If the Moon is v/c for four hours during your work-day, what options do you have? If you find yourself pressed to make decisions or sign contracts, keep the mental reservation that it will likely be modified in the future. Don't get caught into protecting any turf established during the Moon void-of-course periods, as it isn’t going to last. On the positive side, this is an excellent time for thinking outside of the box. This would include any kind of planning, especially when you are prompted to look outside your customary perspectives. It is a good time for all routine tasks, and we all have them. Do that filing, clean up your desk and calendar! Some astrologers advocate deliberately using the Moon void-of-course times to issue invitations or make offers you don't want to be accepted. Thus, if you have a social obligation to ask Mr. and Mrs. XYZ to dinner, but don't want to entertain them, issue the invitation during a Moon void-of-course. Let me know your positive uses for this interesting time for minutes to hours every couple of days -- the Moon void-of-course!
1These aspects would be: conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition -- or -- 0°, 60°, 90°, 120°, and 180°. |
